“When the money failed in the land of Egypt…” — Genesis 47:15
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matt 6:24(NIV)
There comes a time in every generation when human systems prove their limits. Egypt was the most powerful nation of its day—wealthy, structured, and full of resources. Yet Scripture says “money failed.” This teaches us that anything built on the flesh has an expiration date.
Money can buy medicine, but not health… it can buy a house, but not a home… status, but not stability. When Egypt’s economy collapsed, the only place with bread was where God had positioned Joseph. This reminds us: When earthly sources fail, divine sources begin to speak.
Joseph represents (typology) Christ—the One who holds the bread of life. When the systems of men crumble, the Kingdom of God stands unshaken.
When money fails, favor speaks.
When connections fail, covenant holds.
When resources fail, revelation provides.
When the land is empty, grace is still full.
