Colossians 2:20-23
[20]Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—
[21]“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,”
[22]which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men?
[23]These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion , false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
1. What is self-imposed religion?
It is worship and spirituality driven by human rules, traditions, and personal standards rather than by Christ.
It looks holy on the outside but lacks the life and power of the Spirit.
2. Why is it dangerous?
It replaces Christ with rules (Galatians 2:21).
It produces pride or condemnation, not transformation.
It focuses on external performance, not heart change.
It gives an appearance of wisdom, but no power over sin.

4. The way of Christ:
True faith flows from relationship, not regulation (John 15:5).
Transformation comes by the Spirit, not self-effort (2 Corinthians 3:6).
Obedience is the fruit of grace, not a substitute for it (Titus 2:11–12).
