At Calvary, the cross was not silent—it spoke.
In Luke 23:39–43, we see three crosses… but more importantly, three voices.
- The Voice of Rejection
One thief looked at Jesus and said, “Save yourself and us.”
This was not faith—it was sarcasm. He wanted escape, not transformation.
👉 This voice still speaks today:
“If God is real, prove it.”
“Fix my situation, then I’ll believe.”
It is the voice of pride and unbelief.
- The Voice of Repentance
The other thief rebuked him and turned to Jesus:
“Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
He acknowledged:
His sin
Jesus’ innocence
Jesus’ lordship
👉 This is the voice heaven responds to—
not perfection, but humility and surrender.
- The Voice of Redemption (Jesus)
Jesus answered:
“Today, you will be with Me in paradise.”
No delay. No condition. No ritual.
👉 The cross declares:
Grace is immediate for those who believe.
At the cross:
One man died in sin
One man died to sin
And Jesus died for sin
Takeaway
The cross is still speaking today.
One voice mocks
One voice surrenders
One voice saves
👉 The question is: Which voice are you echoing?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
in the name of Jesus, I come under the power of the cross.
Lord, as Your voice spoke mercy at Calvary in the Gospel of Luke, let that same voice speak over my life today.
Father, every voice of doubt, pride, and unbelief—
the voice that says “prove Yourself” and resists Your will—
I silence it in the name of Jesus!
Let the voice of repentance arise in me. Give me a broken spirit and a surrendered heart.
Lord Jesus,
just as You spoke to the repentant thief,
speak over my life.
Let Your voice override every accusation of the enemy. By the power of the cross, I declare:
My past is redeemed
My sins are forgiven
My identity is restored
My destiny is secured in Jesus name.
