John 17:11
“Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me…”
When Jesus prayed in Gospel of John 17, He was about to leave the world, yet His concern was the preservation of His disciples. He said, “Keep them in Your name.”
To be kept in His name means to be preserved under the authority, power, and identity of God. His Name is Protection
The name of the Lord is a spiritual fortress.
Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
When believers stand in His name, they stand under divine security.
1.His Name is Identity.
Being kept in His name means we belong to Him. We carry His nature and represent Him on earth. Just as a child carries the family name, believers carry the name of Christ.
2.His Name Preserves Our Destiny
Many forces try to pull believers away—temptations, trials, and spiritual opposition. Yet Jesus prayed that we would be kept, meaning guarded so that our faith and calling remain intact.
Spiritual Insight:
Your safety is not merely in your strength, wisdom, or strategy. Your preservation is in His name. As long as you remain in Christ, heaven takes responsibility for keeping you.
