Jesus plainly told His disciples that they were going to Jerusalem and there He will be betrayed to the chief priests and scribes and be condemned to death. He added that the Gentiles as well will mock, scourge and crucify Him. But He will resurrect on the third day.
Jesus foretold His suffering in graphic details:
He will suffer rejection and humiliation both at the hands of the Jews and Gentiles. He will be crucified, but He will surely resurrect on the third day.
It is important to note that both the Jews and Gentiles played important roles in His death, so that in His resurrection, He can be saviour of all.
Jesus’ death wasn’t a surprise, neither was His resurrection.
Every detail of the event was known by Jesus who for the sake of our salvation endured the rejection, shame and pain, so He can be saviour of all.
